This is a shorter concert with no intermission, and includes a carefully-selected portion of the full evening concert. The concert is perfect for families and those who cannot make the full concert later in the evening. Tom and Judy Heffron will be handing out Christmas gifts to the children in audience. This year's Beaver Dam Area Orchestra Concert once again features your favorite holiday songs and some new ones too! A sample from this year includes A CANADIAN BRASS CHRISTMAS, A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS, SLEIGH RIDE, and STILLE NACHT.
MASTERS IN THIS HALL will feature BDAO violinists Zoe Lord and Ryan Tietz. MASTERS IN THIS HALL is an old French carol, whose words were written by William Morris sometime before 1860. Gustav Holst wrote an arrangement of it in his piece Three Christmas Carols. The carol is a song of celebration of the promised birth of Christ the Lord.
Zoe Lord has been playing the violin for 9 years. She has been privately instructed by Mrs. Heffron since she began, and recently Lakeisha Heeringa. This is her third year playing in BDAO. Outside of this orchestra, she is the concertmaster of the Beaver Dam High School Orchestra and the principal second violin of the Philharmonia Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra. She would like to thank her family for their support throughout her musical career and the members of BDAO for being so welcoming.
Ryan Tietz has been playing the violin for nine years. He has been privately instructed by Mrs. Heffron for all of those years. Ryan has been in the Beaver Dam Area Orchestra for three years and currently plays in the second violin section. After this year, he plans to study Film Production.
